Waitlist & Lottery Preferences

The lottery is a random weighted lottery.  A weighted lottery means that some students will receive a preference in the lottery if they meet any of the criteria mentioned below. The list below are preference criteria and do not guarantee enrollment at Pinnacles Prep. The preferences increase the likelihood of a student being selected in the general lottery, by giving them extra tickets for each criteria they meet. As a point of clarification, every student receives 1 ticket to the lottery; additionally, if a student meets every criteria in the list below, they would receive 13 total tickets.

*siblings are automatically accepted once one sibling is picked from the lottery

  1. Children of contracted full-time staff members.
Students fitting this description will be given 5 extra tickets in the lottery

  2. Students from economically disadvantaged situations
Students fitting this description would get 5 extra tickets in the lottery.

Students will receive this preference if they are eligible for the free or reduced-price meals program or on some form of public assistance.

This will be indicated on the original application online in order to qualify for the preference and will be confirmed via a completed and approved Meal Application form submitted in the summer prior to the beginning of the school year.

  3. Students matriculating from underperforming schools

Students fitting this description would get 2 extra tickets in the lottery

Students will receive this preference if they matriculate from a school with a score of 5 or less on the Washington School Improvement Framework.

The school that students are matriculating from will be indicated on the original application.

  4. Students who do not qualify for a preference

Students who submit applications for which no preference is generated based on the aforementioned list will be given 1 ticket in the lottery.

Applicants DO NOT have to be present to be picked.

Students who are not selected during the lottery will be put on a waiting list in the order they are selected via continued selection during the lottery.
