Pinnacles Newsletter: July 2021

A Note from Jill

Greetings! I hope everyone is taking care of themselves and others during this sweltering Omega Dome Heat wave we have been experiencing. We are thinking of everyone in our community and how scary this heat is for so many families without access to A/C. On a cooler note, as we say goodbye to the extreme heat, we have something in this newsletter for enrolled, waitlisted and interested families, so scroll down for upcoming July events!

I would like to send a special thank you to everyone who donated to our Spring Fundraising Campaign to help us transform the Great Hall into learning studios for our founding scholars. Because of you we were able to go past our goal of 50K. As you may know, Charter Schools in WA state don’t have access to Levy or Bond dollars, so these funds are critical for us to have a strong start! If you didn’t get a chance to give, you can still support Pinnacles by going to www.pinnaclesprep.org/donate.

In closing, we are just over 50 days away from opening our doors to our founding scholars! This is such an incredible time to be creating a unique opportunity for the students of the Wenatchee Valley. I’m humbled and honored to lead the work, and feel grateful that Pinnacles has such an amazing team of people working together to make it happen--a million shout outs to everyone who has supported this effort.

-Jill

Construction Update!

We are getting closer to realizing the vision that the community created for our campus and renovations. See the pictures below for some of the work happening around school right now. And look for next month’s updates as we start wrapping this project up!

We got the garage door installed on the cafeteria this month. What a way to let some beautiful light into the space and allow for scholars to move in and out of the space effortlessly. When the weather is amendable of course…

Carpeting is being installed around campus. Below is a picture of the PEAK lab where scholars will be learning about the importance of ratios, how to formulate a truly compelling argument in an essay, as well as other important subjects.

Special thanks go out to our founders Sara Rolfs and Rick Wray (and the Wray family)! They have been volunteering some real sweat equity into this school as of late. Seen below they are painting the science lab where our scholars will explore why the molecular make of objects affects how they conduct heat and electricity, why it's been so darn hot out this summer, and the ecology of our local species of salmon.

Volunteer Opportunities

We need help with a variety of activities and jobs such as painting our new classrooms, assembling tables and desks for our students, cleaning up the landscaping around campus, and plenty more!

We welcome volunteers who are excited about our mission and want to contribute their time and skills. As well, once we open there will be many opportunities to get involved in our school community. Just fill out our Volunteer Interest Form to get started
